Hi,
I would like to see some of the cross town links restored. I live in the Harrowgate Hill area and since Arriva launched their 'new and improved' network (i.e.bus services slashed by about 50% in this area) we have also lost all our cross town links. A journey to the railway station requires two buses now and costs nearly twice as much, plus the inconvenience of changing and now having to wait for two buses instead of one. Hardly of benefit to anyone particularly the elderley and disabled.
I now use the car a lot more since the changes, again hardly fitting with the towns green aims.
Please bring back crosstown services and please, please, please use anybody other than Arriva. They are dreadful and the car lobbies dream.

I remember the good old days, when you could get the 2B circular (Springfield, Town, Haughton) on the old Corporation buses.

I cannot understand why cross-town buses are impossible.  I'm sure I, or any other intelligent townsperson, can come up with some sensible routes.

The real reason for all cross town routes being chopped in half is that it creates a lot more single journeys i.e. you always have to change to another bus. This benefits the bus operator financially when it comes to the revenue it receives for the pensioner's 'free' passes as the total number of journeys have been increased. e.g. somebody travelling from Harrowgate Hill to the Railway Station and back now needs to use two buses in each direction therefore making a trip on four different buses rather than two as before.
